"I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves."

I couldn't be more thrilled with Nolan's summer. He's plowing through the Magic Tree House series at an average of 2* books/day. Going to the Winona library in the summer is one of my happiest memories as a kid. I see that they've remodeled it a bit, but that library is awesome. Old, musty, glass floors upstairs, many nooks and crannies. I'd get a stack as big as I could carry and read them all in just a few days. The wait to go back was agonizing. The library is still one of my happy places. Occasionally, I'll feel like Nolan should be doing something more-enjoying the weather, being a kid, whatever. So, I kick him outside to the hammock. Problem solved.

Look at his legs. It seems that a giraffe has moved in.

*Did I say 2? He's read two already this morning. AND we went to the park. Good grief.

It's so neat to see them loving to read! And how great that he's got a hammock to read in! ;)
I love the post title.

there is a downside ~ having to repeat yourself about 4 times every time you say something to them. ahh well, at least they aren't ignoring us while playing video games.

I love your title and I can totally relate to Nolan and his books. I think books were my best friends when I was growing up. The lives of the characters were always much more exciting than mine. I was somewhat of an outcast when I was about middle school age and I know that if it wasn't for books I'd have been very lonely. I still enjoy to read, but now I have to be careful because I can't stop when I'm in the middle of a good book so I end up staying up half the night and being owly or just ignoring my kids instead so I can read. It's like an addiction for me sometimes. I have 2 borrowed books sitting in the hall looking at me right now. So far, I've resisted temptation, but for how long??? If I could enjoy them a bit at a time, it would be so much better. Sorry about all that! Anyway, I'd say Nolan has got it made ... a good book (x10) and a hammock on a beautiful summer day! Ahh.
