Man vs Woman

I don't mean this to be insulting. Or to sound bitter or resentful. It's just merely my observation and perhaps a bit of envy.

I'm heading to St. Louis Friday morning for a little girls weekend. I'm beyond excited to spend some quality time with some female adults. So I'm busy. Busy getting ready to leave. Cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, meal planning, kid-care coordinating, packing, cleaning, laundry, planning, cleaning. Everything needs to be in place before I leave. Or the world just might fall apart. I'm realizing that I really need to let things go. Evan is a very capable father. I'm awfully tempted to just pack my things and leave. Don't worry about all the little things. He knows where their closets are. And the fridge. And Target. After all, he went on a guys weekend a couple months ago. Here's how it went: he woke up Friday morning, threw some clothes in a backpack and left for work. That was the extent of his trip preparation. I'm going to reciprocate his faith in me. However, I will remember my toothbrush.

And pajamas. Don't forget your pajamas. That's what I always forget, but then I usually sleep in my clothes anyway, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

i know. last night i told craig to let me know what he wants to cook while i'm gone so i can shop for him. then i told him that i could even cook ahead if he wanted. then i started worrying about special mtg. lunch on sunday. (yes, i will be missing 1 of our special mtgs.) he got a little upset with me. took it like i don't trust him. i don't THINK that is what it is. it's more like i feel guilty. like by leaving i'm not doing my job. what is that?

Pajamas? Wouldn't that ruin the illusion that you're getting together to have pillow fights in your underwear?

This is a Friends joke disclaimer :P

There is one way to prevent this, but I'm not sure I would recommend it....if you make your husband stay home with the kids all the time while you work full time and go to grad school - then he doesn't even bat an eye if you leave for a weekend since he's grown so accustomed to hardly seeing you anyway.... And he's the one who knows where the clean clothes are, and what's in the pantry to fix for meals.... :) I'm envious of the fun it sounds like will be occurring....

Lani - don't tempt me! Our time family time is limited, or I might consider! I'm sure I'll be feeling like I missed out...especially once the pictures start rolling in!

I'm feeling like everything is spinning crazily...time is lightning fast and I have too much to do...laundry so they have something to wear, vacuum (not sure why, since they'll mess it up anyway), clean toilets, shop for groceries, and on top of that there's all the stuff I've volunteered for: sewing costumes, coordinating volunteers for our school's fundraiser, taking pictures of the cast of the play I'm sewing costumes for, and getting set to be the local MOMS Club president.
Maybe I need this break more than I know...

Am I the only one that read this and laughed right out loud? Maybe... I might just be the only one that's not married, come to think of it. Anyway- I did, I laughed.
I guess you're well on your way now... or maybe there already. Have a great time!!

glad you didn't guilt yourself out of coming! now, not to be too demanding , but, it seems like we didnt' get much talked about. could you come for like a week next time so we could go to the botanical gardens, forest park, canoeing, go down to Elephant rocks...we really didn't have much time. How would your guilt do if it had been a week?

Guilt?? What guilt?! Week...absolutely!!

and i'm here to say she most assuredly did not forget her toothbrush. i have this most vivid recollection of me driving, jenny spilling her heart out & shannon sitting in the back brushing her teeth. whenever i think of this trip that is the snapshot that flashes into my mind!
