Cole has had this rash around his nose and on his chin for a couple weeks now. It comes and goes. Some days it will be perfectly clear and baby soft and others it will be inflamed...raised red patches with little teeny tiny white heads. I can't figure out what it is. Remember I was on antibiotics for a week for mastitis...could it be a result of that? I took gobs upon gobs of probiotics and avoided the whole antibiotics=thrush. This does look most like a yeasty rash. I haven't had an ounce of sugar or grains in 8 days though so I'm a bit confused about what is feeding it other than the lactose in my milk. This photo makes it look a bit worse...shine from the flash I think.

well done on the no sugar/grains. Don't think I could do it! It does look rather yeasty.
well needing to fit into summer clothes in 6 weeks is quite the motivation. lost 7.5 pounds this week and now fit comfortably in most of my prepreg clothes.
My kids got rashes like when they were teething.
It looks a little bit like a cold sore rash, a little bit like impatigo, Has he had a cold/runny nose at all? and I'm not positive about this, but I think they (nursing babies) can get thrush even if you don't have any symptoms. (?)
he has been drooling and chewing on his hands....i can't even remember when teething starts...maybe that's it.
he has had a cold but no runny nose...just snot when he sneezes. his mouth is clean...no white spots at all. i think if he had thrush it would be inside too, right? i did put some of my 'all purpose nipple ointment' on him this morning and that has anti-fungal stuff in it. i picked up some coconut oil today as we were all out...i'm hoping that clears it right up.
Wow, I'm impressed with the no sugar/grains. I've done it before, a long time ago. I really should do it again, maybe get rid of the last 5 lbs of stubborn baby fat. Where are you going?
That rash does look yeasty. Brooke had a similar rash when she was teething and drooling a lot... I put lanolin on it and it went away. It was stubborn though. She started teething around 3 months. Sounds like you've got all sorts of good stuff to help him out. :)
hmmm, doesn't look like the candida stuff that ayla gets on her face, although different ppl seem to have different symptoms. kaia has a thrushy looking tongue, but i'm fine. i've been taking oregano capsules & apple cider vinegar in my water & it seems like it's getting better.
that would have been me not my hubby commenting above.
I'm thinking that it's probably just "drool" rash...Can be caused by pacifiers too. Especially the area it's at, and where it comes & goes. Colder days, dryer air could help it along also. Just my thoughts...I'm no Dr. :*)
we're actually a no pacifier house here...not a fan of them!
he has been sucking on his hands/fists a LOT lately so i'm liking the drool rash idea. sure makes for ucky pictures though...=(
Impatigo doesn't go away. Hives comes and goes. Do you own any benedryl cream?
i slathered on aquaphor...yucky i know, but it protected it from slobber all last night and this morning it looks 80% better.
definitely wasn't hives....seen tons of that.
Gavyn had horrid, horrid skin when he was a baby. Like you said... doesn't make for pretty pictures. Doctor called it baby acne and said he would grow out of it. And he did.
wish i could lose 7 in one stinkin week! went to the dr. yesterday and i DON't like what the scale said! Did the coconut oil work? Teagan has a rash around her mouth..i was thinking it was from oranges...she needs to cut way back on sweets..maybe it's a candida rash...sounds like your little guy is getting better? i hope! no real diagnosis from me....
yup, it's pretty much all gone. i can feel a bit of a raised area on his chin but it's flesh colored...can't even see it. i really do think it was just from drool.
my kids get rashes from too much citrus...the acid.
