The Sloppiest Post Ever.

  • Get some amusement here.
  • Cole has a herniated bellybutton. It is the grossest thing ever. I have to check it often to make sure it can be pushed back in and it slurps at me. Anyone else experienced this?
  • I'm losing it. I have no patience and no tolerance for whining today. It started the second the kids were out of bed. They want cookies for breakfast. Whine, whine, whine. They won't eat what I actually make, which they actually love. I nag and nag and nag for every single bite. I pick up toys and they make a mess again right behind me. I get in the shower and suddenly everyone needs me and everyone is crying. I put on some makeup to make myself feel better and human and then have to fight back tears of being overwhelmed so my mascara doesn't run. It's going to be a long day.
  • On the upside, I have a lactation consultant coming today. I'm still having lots of pain.
  • Why won't they listen?! ARGHHHHHHHHHHH. Seriously.
  • A few days ago Nolan was being mean to Avrie and took something from her. Her IMMEDIATE reaction? She grabbed his crotch. Is it okay that Evan and I just laughed?!
  • Avrie: "Mama, what's that noise?" I don't hear anything, honey. "Mama, my ear is talking!"
  • Nolan: "Mom! I just saw a grasshopper riding another grasshopper! Is that funny?"
  • So, apparently you can "peel" a hardboiled egg by blowing it out of the shell. I will attempt to do this this afternoon and let you know if it works.
  • Yawn. I'm so sure there is something else I'd like to whine about.

Cole's favorite hangout.

Our dear friends gave us their CSA box this week. We had pac choi enchiladas last night...we all devoured them. What should I do with the two cayenne peppers?

Nolan has learned the firepole. Wheeee!

I hate this stage of hair. But not as much as I dislike bangs and the maintenance that comes with them. Grow fast!

Napping on Daddy with a mouthful of milk.

Little Miss has decided that she's too big for naps. She still needs them but most of the time I'm too exhausted and worn down to fight with her and she gets away without one. She fell asleep looking out the window a few nights ago while I was making supper.

She eventually slid down. And still slept!

I can totally relate. The picture of Nolan on the firepole is to cute. I heard snorting cayenne peppers(powder) releives a migraine, if you have that problem
;0) I hear you on the whining, it gets so draining. Hang in there, and I hope you can figure out the nursing thing because it sucks to be in excruciating pain every, say, 1-1 1/2 hours. Cole is adorable, and Avrie is so cute asleep in the window!

Hahahaha, the pictures of Avrie sliding down the couch while sleeping made me laugh out loud! And I've heard about the 'blowing the egg' thing, but never tried it...let me know how it works!

I can totally relate as well. I'm dealing with very whiny kids today too. We're all coming down with colds, so that isn't helping matters any. I was in pain when nursing Brooke for about 2 months. I was about ready to throw in the towel and then everything started going smoothly. Hope the lactation consult helps. You have adorable kids!

You could dry the peppers, they keep longer that way. Then you could put a little in to things for an extra kick. I did that a few years ago, works great in chili.

Hey Shannon!
It was great to peak at your blog again. It seems like it has been ages since I have had the time to look at blogs. Cole is very adorable! It looks like you have your hands full! I hope you have a great weekend!

Hi Shannon!

Levi loves his sling, too. He usually goes right to sleep in it. Is the one in the picture fleece? Did you make it?

The veggies look great! A friend gave us a spaghetti squash. So we will try something new for supper.

To the post about snorting cayenne pepper. I also heard that snorting cayenne, garlic and onion powder would cure a cold. I was so misserable with a cold a couple years ago, I thought I would give it a try. I don't recomend it. I thought my head was going to explode and no it didn't cure my cold. It did help me forget about it for a while, maybe thats how it works for migraines.

p.s. I had the worst migraine of my life this a.m. and didn't resort to snorting anything!...come to think of it, it may have been cayenne pepper...!

well the lactation consultant was very helpful. cole has a very high palette which makes it very difficult for him to get a deep latch. hence my pain. we worked with him for a good half hour and tried some different holds, etc. she recommended i use a shield a few times to let my nipples heal. i ran out and bought one but only used it once....it's clumsy and gigantic and annoying. and i nursed all night with very minimal pain. so hopefully we're on the mend and things will start looking up. a high palette also causes them to swallow more air...which is why he's so gassy and uncomfortable. as he gets bigger he'll grow out of it...3-4 months.
