I definitely think back sleeping only is not always the best thing, a little variation doesn't hurt. Lots of babies are getting flat heads from it. The hair on his shoulder is called lanugo, hair on newborns, most common if the babies are early. He is a cutie, looks like you all are doing good.

i let my kids sleep on their backs, sides and tummies even as newborns. obviously there is no right way since they keep changing it.

Love the hairy shoulders comment. Kekoa had a hairy back and I just thought it was lanugo, but it actually hasn't gone away entirely and he's four... so... maybe he's just destined to be Neanderthal man. Ha.

I was pretty strict with the tummy thing with Kekoa. Until we had one who wouldn't sleep through the night on his back... and I soon learned to relax my rules if I wanted any sleep at night. Ha.

hi, i occasionally read your blog when i visit amber's or melissa's... gotta say, CUTE kids! and love the name you chose for the little guy- we have a cole too, just turned one. oh, and i'm a tummy-sleeper mom too- it was the ONLY way cole would sleep. still is. i think back-sleeping is way over-rated... congrats on your little one!
