Parks: Perfect Photo Shoots

There are many, many more pictures of Avrie in the following posts. I'm not playing favorites. I simply have a son who ignores me as much as possible when I have the camera.

We're being lazy today. We had an insanely long and busy weekend with no naps and short nights. We're ready for a lazy day. I took Avrie to the doctor this morning for a persistent ugly rash and I have never felt so undermined and disrespected in my life. She completely disregarded my thoughts and feelings and, I feel, wrongly diagnosed it. She called it eczema. It looks nothing like any eczema I've ever seen. Oh, and she was obese. I'm sorry, I'm being size-ist. But I find it hard to take medical advice from someone who is at least 100 pounds overweight. And she felt the need to discipline my kids. How in the world is that her place? And they didn't need discipline...exam tables are for sitting on. There wasn't a sign that said "do not let your children sit on exam table".

We stopped at the park on the way home and I had fun with tunnel shots:

Size-ist? I dumped my Dr after she had a gastric bypass. She was obese...but not so much so that she couldn't have lost the weight on her own.

I love the pictures...in Brookelyn's scrapbook I did a "disclaimer"page because I had so many more pictures to scrapbook of elliot then her. He cooperated a lot better when he was little. Nowadays, I get more of Trae than the other two because he's the only one I can keep up with these days! We had a pediatrician who always made me feel like a bad mom, and I think because I'm so young it made me less adequate as a parent. Anyway, shortly after I switched, she was on call when I had to bring one of the kids in and asked me why I switched. I told her that her day off and my day off were the same, which thay were, and she said she "just wants to serve her patients well and if there's anything she could do better, just let her know" I figure she was mad about not making $150 off me each time I brought one of the kids in. I always felt lke an idiot because if there wasn't anything wrong, she make it out like I was paranoid, and if there was something wrong, she make me out as an idiot because my kid was sick. Hello, that's why I pay you a gazillion bucks....sorry for the long post, it's one of my rant subjects. Can you post a picture of the rash? (if it's not a diaper rash) Maybe someone could suggest otherwise?

if you weren't happy with the doctor, call the clinic and complain about her.

I've considered complaining about my midwife's nurse...as far as I can tell nobody can stand her! She's always on my case about not eating refined grains, processed food and soda. Isn't that a little presumptuous?

Man! I hate it when Drs/nurses don't treat you well. Was that your usual Dr? I had a horrible experience with a NP when Brooke broke her leg. She didn't believe my story and then reluctantly ordered the wrong xrays for her leg. I objected, but was obviously considered an idiot. I finally got in with our regular Dr 9 days later. My Dr apologized profusely but I still think that NP should not be seeing pediatric patients at all. Brooke is doing great now thank goodness. But I will NEVER see that NP ever ever EVER again.

Cheri-- the nurse wanted you to eat junk?!?!?! Geez, some people.

No....she just assumes I have horrible eating habits and takes it upon herself to correct them.

You too?!?!?? I took Madi in to the walk-in clinic Friday morning (their Ped. up and left and I have yet to find another one I like...) because she had a rash all over her stomach/under her left arm. She walked in the room, sat down and started touching her rash...NEVER once did she wash her hands or put gloves on. We were the second patient to be seen (we were there before it opened waiting), so I KNOW she saw one person before us. Then she wanted to check her ears/throat to see if there was any infection there and was disgusted with me because I couldn't convince my two year old to open her mouth, stick out her tongue and say 'ahhh'. Seriously, what two year old does this for a stranger who's been rubbing her dirty hands on her stomach. This went on for about five minutes until I asked her if she could use a tongue depressor. She went 'pft' and found a tongue depressor, and checked her throat...STILL hadn't washed her hands. Then she tells me it's a rash due to an allergic reaction. TO WHAT?!?!?? Nothing has changed in her lifestyle. We haven't been anywhere different, I have use the same laundry soap for over a year, she hasn't eaten any new foods...nothing has changed. So she tells me to give her benadryl...and have a good day. I'm like...okay?? Children's Benadryl? How much?? So she says 'uuummm, well, I think you should give her maybe like a quarter teaspoon or a half teaspoon...I don't know, read the box'. This was the time of the visit when I just wanted to deck her one. So, thanks to the pharmacist at Walgreens, we got it all figured out dosage-wise. And we pay mega-bucks for insurance to be treated like THIS?!?!??? I can't believe you had as horrible of an experience, I thought I was the only one!

I am writing up a letter of complaint.

She wasn't our regular pediatrician, but she was the one I was originally referred to because suppoosedly she was open to alternative healthcare. Baloney. Sure am glad we didn't go to her in the first place. We love the pediatrician that we have now and she would never dream of treating me the way this doctor did. i specifically voiced my concerns about using cortisone and she blatantly ignored me and proceeded to tell me to put cortisone on it twice a day. she also had the nerve to tell me that my kids shouldn't have tan lines...that i'm not using enough sunscreen. i didn't dare tell her i've only used sunscreen on them once this year. but that's a whole other topic.

Good for you. I'm doing the same thing with that NP. Hope it makes someone take notice.

Cheri--sorry I read your comment wrong. That is a bit presumptuous

Glad to hear others comments. This was not our regular doctor but another on at the same clinic. I had taken my son in because he burnt his hand. I had called the nurse and THEY told me to bring him in. The doctor looked at it, told me he did not need to see him and accused me of putting his hand on the oven to teach him. "You know he won't learn anything from this?" His exact words. How am I susposed to take that?!!?
On a different subject I love it when we get to see the NP. I think they take more time with their patients and they do a more thorough and careful job. The NP always diagnoses something, rather than, "just a virus."
