I Love Bullets

  • On our way to the park today we got pulled over for expired tabs. $105.
  • The cop followed us into the park...there was a child there all by himself. He was 4 years old. The grandpa dropped him off and left. What kind of person does that? The police tracked him down at the church two blocks away at a bible study. That was an hour long. It doesn't matter where you are...bible study or the bar. You never drop your kid off at the park. Ever. Seriously.
  • I went through all the kids' too small clothes yesterday and today. Any baby in the future will not need a stitch of clothing. Diapers, diapers, diapers for gifts please! Or money sent in our name to the hospital's billing department. Not really kidding!
  • Now that we know what the kids' bedroom arrangements will be I'm super excited to decorate Avrie's room. I'm leaning toward woodland fairy accents. What little girl doesn't adore fairies? I'm hoping to get this all done fairly soon...there are just two walls to paint and a few accessories to look for. I have a big branch that I'm going to use for a window rod. I'm (I wonder how many times I can use "I'm" in one paragraph?) going to decorate some plain cream chandelier shades with raffia-like twigs and fairies and/or tiny eggs. I may paint them sage green too. I'd love more ideas from little girls at heart!

A cloud ceiling would be darling, and mushrooms maybe? Not sure the look you're going for, but just some ideas....now that I know we are having another boy, I'm excited to decorate Brookleyn's room also. I love the twig and eggs idea!

wow, so did the guy that left his grandkid in the park get in trouble? i think HE should have been the one to get the fine. i can't imagine just dropping ayla off at a park alone.

CUTE idea for Avrie's room. I LOVE decorating little girls' rooms. Course, that IS all I have to decorate for! A canopy bed would be awesome in there....but those are quite spendy. I am anxious to see pictures, too!

i had a canopy as a kid and loved it...i think this room is waaayyy too small for one though...10x10.

i think we'll give the clouds a shot...that is if i can convince the hubby!

I haven't done clouds, but if you do them wispy they look really neat. A friend of mine does faux painting, and she did them wispy, not like cartoon clouds. If I was to do it, I would paint the whole ceiling blue, and then water down white paint and apply it with a wooly or a rag. You can vary the amount of water to get different "density" of clouds. Gray would also add more tone to the cloouds. It would be best to have Evan do it since you'll need to stand on a ladder. If you like the canopy idea, they have ones that hang from the ceiling that are much cheaper. I deleted my last comment because I wrote very instead of vary....Anal today I guess.

Shannon,
I did my boys' room in the jungle theme-neon green walls, huge nylon leaf canopies over each bed, and CLOUDS on the ceiling! The clouds MAKE the room. Only suggestion I have is use a lighter blue/gray than you think you need. Eric brought the paint home and I thought it was too light, but it turned out perfect. I just used an old rag and made them wispy-like. Super cute! I wish I could see your room when it's all done! Post some pics!!!

The first time I ever got pulled over was for expired tags... I was driving my parents car while they were in Hawaii. He was nice and let me go with a warning.

Crazy that someone would just leave their kids at a park unsupervised.

The room idea sounds super cute. I second the idea of getting one of those hoop mosquito netting canopies to hang from the ceiling versus the canopy bed. Only problem with ours is if the boys yank on it too hard it comes out of the ceiling, but if you could figure out a way to secure it good enough, it would work just fine. I think they sell them at Bed, Bath and Beyond and at Pier 1 Imports. The cloud idea is cute, too, though.

I hear ya on the dollars being sent to the hospital expenses versus baby gifts. But it is nice for each baby to get their own special baby gifts, too.
