1st Day of School

Nolan had his first day of preschool today. He's so grown up. Avrie went to sibling care down the hall while the parents drank coffee and did paperwork. She didn't even miss me...for two whole hours. Boohoo! They both had loads of fun and can't wait to go back. There are three children we had infant class with so it's fun to see the parents again. Satveer Chaudhary and his wife bring their son and are very involved with the Columbia Heights school district, as it's where he graduated. He is a member of the Minnesota Senate and was in (on?) the House of Representatives from 1997-2001. Extremely nice family. The Chaudhary's are a mix of Asian, Indian and American. There are two Muslim families, two Ethiopian families, one Latino family and three Caucasian families. We are quite the diverse group. I love it.

We went to the co-op today for a few things and I'm filling up my flour container in the bulk aisle and this older lady comes over and looks at Avrie and says "oh my, now that is the most disdainful looking infant I have ever seen. She looks just awful. It must be the ragweed. Oh, she just looks absolutely disdainful". She proceeded to use the word disdainful a few more times before going on her way. Apparently she had no idea what disdainful actually meant or she'd know it was totally out of context. What an awful lady. Just putrid. Disdainful, even.

Does this look disdainful to you?

I didn't know Nolan was started preschool! Sounds like more diversity than this town even has! What a horrible old lady. Did you want to hit her over the head with a dictionary?

funny... perhaps she needs new glasses??? or they need some serious rearranging...

What did you say?! I can't believe someone would do something like that!!! Are you doing an ECFE preschool?

Yeah, it's not technically "preschool". It's an ECFE 3-5years class but exactly the same as preschool with more parent involvement. And affordable.
