Farewell to Baby Cole

Our darling Cole has jumped headfirst into the Terrible Two's. He's just a bit early. Cole has definitely stayed a "baby" much, much longer than Nolan or Avrie. He has changed almost overnight. Yesterday was the very first day that he's shown flat-out defiance and meant it. His cute little tantrums have turned into the embarrassing kind. His sweet, easy going demeanor has been replaced by a very determined and strong-willed little bugger. He refuses to eat anything unless he's the one holding the utensil. Last night at the Y Easter Party he threw himself on the floor in a rage because Evan was trying to open a piece of candy for him. He grabbed it furiously and shoved the whole thing in his mouth wrapper and all. Which resulted in a larger tantrum because it didn't taste good. Imagine that. He refuses to be rocked, doesn't like to be carried and pouts if he even hears you thinking the word "no." Oh, where did my baby go? Despite the challenges, I love this stage. And my darling non-baby.

Spring Break - Day 1

Nolan's spring break is this week. We're milking it for all it's worth. This Mommy Bus is loving the break. And it's only Day 2. We're heading out shortly for Iowa...but here's yesterday:

Little Miss Independent sashaying her way to the wolves at Como Zoo.

MOM. Seriously. STOP. I just want to look at the animals.

Our favorite stop...the play room in the Conservatory.

Grape juice mustache, anyone?

Zookeeper Avrie heading to feed whatever animal eats carrots. She gave them to the tiger and got corrected by a little boy.

Isn't this just the happiest picture ever?! It makes my feet happy.

Nolan working on his skillz. Round and round the driveway with a few stops at the neighbor's garage to see what he's working on.

Loving her Cinderella bike.

This is what my spring break looks like. Well, until I made plans to head to Iowa. Now it will include none of this. Who wants to read a book when we've got REAL ADULT CONVERSATION?!?! So excited.

Photo of Spring

Parents: Any tips for dealing with obscene writing and drawings on porta-potty walls? A small can of spray paint in the purse? Having children who can read is very alarming.

On the upside: It's ALMOST PARK SEASON! And we're just giddy about it. We got the kids' bikes out Sunday for the first time this year.
