The kids and I went to the farm on Thursday morning. There sure wasn't a lack of excitement! We got to skin a turkey, witness a birth, have a belated Easter egg hunt, play with our cousins and get filthy dirty.
Papa got a turkey on Friday morning. The kids watched him cut it up. Nolan brought home a feather collection. Most of them are on the van floor. 
Friday afternoon we went to Winona. We played at the park, walked around a bit of the lakes, ran some errands and stopped for ice cream. Grandpa called and said if we hurried home we could watch a calf be born. So we opted to take the ice cream to go. This was the result.
Peeking.**No animals were harmed in the making of this film. This heifer would have died if she didn't have assistance.**
Whoa! That was awesome!

I have a weak stomach but I swallowed my bile so that the kids could watch this. they miss out on so much not living on a farm
Awesome video...we were just watching a baby orangutan be bron on you tube...pretty awesome, but I have to admit I'm glad I wasn't up that close when it was me giving birth. I felt just like poor momma cow sounded.

That was so fun to see! Every year at the State Fair we go to the Miracle of Birth center in hopes of seeing an animal giving birth, but so far we haven't hit it at the right time or else a cow is in labor but not expected to actually have the calf for hours and hours.
I loved your video disclaimer! Been along time since I help pull a calf, long before Neisha was born, she doesn't get her weak stomach from me.

Ok, that was a new experience for me! I've never seen anything being born before, except Kaitlyn ... I got to watch the birthing in a mirror ... I wasn't brave enough with Ethan. Poor Mama Moo! That's gotta hurt!

oh wow. thanks! now i've seen pigs and a calf birthed (?) on that farm! my city girl comment is "i can't believe the helpers weren't wearing gloves!"
