My Zip Got Zapped

  • I wish Starbucks delivered.
  • My wart is back. Solutions anyone?
  • I got FRIED at the park on Monday. While attempting to take a picture I was reminded of the women in National Geographic. Some kids had hidden stacks of Playboy...we had Grandma and Grandpa's National Geographic collection. I feel like the tribal women whose ta-ta's hung to their knees. Needless to say those pictures got deleted awfully fast. I look like a lobster. Lets leave it at that.
  • I recently scored two brand new bottles of girly stuff at Unique: Arbonne 4.3 oz herbal foot cream for $2.40 ($16). Aveda Smoothing Scrub for $1.80 ($22).
  • Avrie has this really weird bump on her arm. It's actually three...two are clustered together and the other is a an inch away. It feels like a tiny grain of rice under her skin. It doesn't seem to bother her but it doesn't seem to be going away. Any ideas? You may be able to see it in the picture above if you click on it to make it bigger.
  • Another weird skin thing with her....on Saturday I put a sticker on her arm from the birthday party. It was there for 2 hours at the most. A red circle developed where it was and it's still there. An allergic reaction to the glue in the sticker??
  • Bloglines hasn't been updating lately. Argh.
  • The kids found an empty SunnyD bottle at the park. The ingredients are: water, high fructose corn syrup and 2% or less of each of the following: concentrated juices (orange, tangerine, apple, lime, grapefruit). Citric acid, ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), beta-carotene, thiamin hydrochloride (Vitamin B1), natural flavors, food starch-modified, canola oil, cellulose gum, xanthan gum, sodium hexametaphosphate, sodium benzoate to protect flavor, yellow #5, yellow #6. Are there seriously people who think this is good for their children?? "Oh, but it has real JUICE in it". "And CORN syrup? That must count as a vegetable". I'm continually blown away by what people "feed" their families.
  • I may look huge. Surprise, I'm PREGNANT. Telling a pregnant women with severe body image issues that she's "HUGE" isn't exactly the best thing.
  • I am so excited about my summer reading stash on hold at the library. I'm in love with libraries.
  • My kids have a severe case of the grouchies today. Anyone want them?

I think you look great...I've had the same problem. Wish I had something witty to respond with and put them in their place. I just don't respond, which must make a statement because they stutter and change the subject.

I had something like that once and it was actually a blister. I thought a little worm had gotten under my skin. The dr. told me it was a blister and popped it. who knew?

i got fried on monday too - just my back. craig was happy to give me a hard time about it. i am always on his case to put sunscreen on, but i never do, because i hardly ever burn - oops! i have to address the huge comment too. all you non-pregnant ppl out there - please don't tell us we look huge or ask if we're having twins or tell us you know someone who only gained 9 pounds. it doesn't feel great even if we don't normally have body issues!

I also have grumpy kids, does anyone want mine?!?!

I also have to comment on the comments people say to pregnant women. if they tell you that you look huge, say it back to them. then they'll know how it feels. i know when i was really pregnant, I was easily irritated with people and the things they'd say to me. Come on people, think before you speak

I think you're adorable...people who comment about your belly otherwise can just go where the sun don't shine. About your wart...if your dr. will put dry ice on it, it'll stay away!

p.s.-your kids are crabby because it's WEDNESDAY.

hi. i'm getting burned outside with my grumpy kids. i too despise corn syrup...and why do people even put stuff like that on the shelves and market it in such a way that seems "healthy" but it's not? why do that to each other? ourselves. i'm getting political here but c'mon...why does it take a PHD to go shopping? it should be simple and easy and we should just get what we're going for : food..instead of all the other "stuff" they put in it. ok..i'll step off the bandstand. enjoy your belly. i for one am envious.

...I've heard if you put duct tape on a wart it smothers it...or nail polish. Good luck. I had warts froze off when I was little, and they've never returned.

ugh, i know i should just go in. it's just that i'll have to pay my co-pay just to have a little bugger burned off. we were at craig and mindy's this winter and craig tried to burn it off for me with straight hydrogen peroxide (not the diluted stuff) and it actually worked....it was gone within like 5 days. but evidently wasn't permanent. i can't stand the smell of the wart remover stuff. i remember being at a get together once and a big group of kids all had warts (isn't that just a bit strange???) and they were all sitting downstairs with needles and lighters...getting the needle red hot and poking it into the roots of the warts. i haven't been that brave. and it's so tiny that i can't see the roots yet.

sara---did yours have "heads"? i tried to squeeze avries but they have no opening or head to them. strange.

oh, melissa....i think you're on to something there. i really dislike wednesdays and i always feel bad about it since it's the day we most often have bible study or gospel meeting. but it is such a horrible day. it's always the day we run out of groceries, the kids are crabby and for some reason don't nap well and then we need to cram in supper after daddy gets home, get cleaned up and head out the door to make it to meeting in time...oh, and with the right spirit too. i'm sure this problem is universal =)

hey, i forgot to tell you we tapped craig for his warts 3 times & they are gone.

Shannon, your Wednesdays sound JUST like mine. And I thought we were the only ones......

Wednesdays are always bad around here too. And don't listen to *anyone* who tells you that you look huge, cuz you don't! You look great!

Never thought about Wednesdays being a problem, but you know what? I think you're on to something. Wednesdays are crazy for us, too. Kekoa got a skin thing from wearing a band-aid too long, too, but I never figured out what caused it... just figured it was the skin not getting enough air or something. You look cute. Don't let anyone tell you any differently? Their just jealous of your Tink shirt.

Shannon... Sorry I'm just a lurker here. (Cousin to Jenny Kavaloski, and Ben Stockwell's sister). Hope you don't mind, but I had to comment. You look amazing, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise! I'm absolutely huge right now (I deliver this baby on Monday), and I have numerous people telling me every day at work. I always look them in the eye and say "Thanks for reminding me!" As far as the wart, it may not clear up well while you're pregnant. Our immune systems have to really back down while we're pregnant so as not to reject the baby. I once had a doctor remind me- we would reject a skin graft from this baby just a week after it's born, but we can somehow carry this baby for nine months! Pretty amazing!! Sorry for the long post!

We've tried alot of different home remedies on warts over the years, sometimes they work, sometimes not (ditto the commercial stuff)
Avries bumps remind me of something one of my little ones had under her arm in several places. The dermatologist said they were a type of wart also. She removed them cuz they kept spreading.
Don't you wonder why people are so free to say pregnant mama's are "huge", (and we have good reason to be, although I don't think huge is accurate!) and then there's all these other *truly huge* people out there that no one would dare say that to?
