Another Tooth!

Avrie sprouted another tooth today. She's turning into a regular old punkin' head. She's had really high fevers...I just fed her homemade ice cream chased with Motrin for a 104.9 temp. I thought 103.9 this morning was high. I was holding her when that fever broke...the strangest thing. She was fussy and scalding hot and then seconds later she was happy and cold.

All the health care "professionals" tell you that fevers are NOT a sign of teething. Hahaaaa. Every tooth both my kids have has come with a fever. And a messy diaper...which they also tell you is NOT a sign. I think 99% of mothers will agree with me that that's just hogwash.

You Don't Stick Golf Clubs In Your Poop.

I never thought I'd ever say that.

So, I just put Avrie down for a nap and as I'm shutting her door I hear the bathroom faucet turn on. I go in and find Nolan washing off his golf club. I asked him what was on it and he said "poop". He had pooped in his undies in the kitchen and some of it had fallen out on the rug...which he smooshed up with his golf club and then "golfed" his way to the bathroom with poop smears all along the way.

Oh the joys of Motherhood. The rug is in the dumpster. I'm not even attempting to clean a rug I bought used anyway.

The TERRIBLE THREE'S have begun! I want the Tremendous Two's back! He's gone from a sweet little boy to a wicked little devil. Well, he's still sweet 90% of time but watch out for that 10%!!

Our Memorable Day

We had no plans for Memorial Day and it was wonderful. The kids played outside all morning with Daddy while I did laundry and misc things around the house. Evan set up a little pup tent that provided hours of entertainment for the day. We had lunch and supper in the tent. In the afternoon we went to the beach for a bit...it was pretty windy. Went for a walk to the park before supper. We got lots of fresh air and sun...what a perfect day!
Reading books in the tent. Green Eggs and Ham. To go with Evan's shirt.
I don't think it's possible to get any more adorable!
Pretty cute stuff if you ask me!
Watching the boats.
Shriieeeekkk! I'm strong just like my Big Brother Nolan! When he wasn't much older than Avrie he could do monkey bars without us hanging on to him.
Wheeee! Mom, check it out! One hand!!

Jimmy John's #12

Is the best sandwich out there. Well, it competes with #10.

Had Grandma Day on Friday and Nolan got royally spoiled with a swimming bath. Grandma carried out pails of hot water to the kiddie pool. I made sure Nolan knew that our backyard doesn't have hot water =)

Took the kids to Proex today for pictures. Nolan's 3 year and we put Avrie with him for a few shots. And then got our arms and legs chopped off to pay for them. Thank goodness it's only twice a year. I generally like our candid shots better anyway. Although this time it was very hard to choose one of Nolan...he was just too cute in all of them.

Evan traded in the PT Cruiser today for a new (old) work truck. It has a bench seat in the back that would hold a few kids and junk.

Lots of Rain

The kids' pool is filled halfway from all the rain we've had the last two days. Sure makes our grass look better...it was on the verge of death.

Doing a mountain of laundry this morning. I have a dentist appointment this afternoon and Pat is taking us to Good Earth for supper. I have a feeling I won't be chewing too much. Soup it is.

Out of the mouth of babe Nolan: "I drank milk from your boobies when I was a baby, but I might bite you now with my teeth". He is so wise =) It's all the brain food he gets! Here's a picture this morning with quinoa/ham pilaf and scrambled eggs:

P.S. I never found my diamond.

Beautiful Day!

What a gorgeous day! We went to the river trail this morning and walked and played at the park. Came home and went swimming in the backyard and had a picnic lunch and shared a quart of strawberries. Poor Avrie is sick so she's spent the day sleeping and puking. But we're still having fun.

When the kids wake up I'm going to start my diamond hunt. My diamond fell out of my ring last night. It's pretty surreal considering I had noticed the prong looked funny earlier in the evening. I'm 99.9% sure that it's in the house somewhere...just a matter of where. Wahhhhh!
What a comfy place for a nap. Kids can fall asleep in the strangest places. He's been anti-bed lately. He sleeps on the floor, rocking chair and sometimes on the mattress which has been moved to the floor as you can see.
Gotta make sure this tire stays on.
Helping Daddy fix the car. Hmmm...what tool do I need now?
Two double chins = double the fun!

Rant!!

We believe in good food. We don't have a problem with spending money on organic, locally grown and raised food. But this just blows my mind. I went down to the new Lund's on University and Central. Absolutely horrendous. I can't believe people pay that much for their food. The conventional produce was MORE than what I pay for organic and the co-op or Target. Example: a pre-cut fruit tray that had 1/4 (as in one quarter of the fruit) cantaloupe, 1/4 honeydew, 1/4 pineapple and maybe 6 strawberries. $16.95. What?? You could buy the whole fruit and still be ahead. Clif Nectar bars are $1/each at the co-op and Lund's wanted $1.79/each. I had driven all the way down there in the rain so I bought a few things to justify the drive. $26 for cheese, crackers, cream and orange juice. I feel robbed.

Very Frustrated Mommy

Evan woke me up this morning at 6:30 to inform me that the fridge had died overnight. So we've got stuffed packed in ice until the new fridge comes on FRIDAY. We did have an old deep freeze in the basement that luckily works so we've got our freezer stuff there.

It's absolutely gorgeous outside and we haven't set foot outdoors. I am so fed up with potty training. Nolan has been trying all morning to poop on the potty. The moment he gets off the potty he pees on the floor. He holds it so long that he gets constipated to make matters worse. A potty training bootcamp would be a great business. Except I can't figure out how to train 1 kid...much less a whole slew.

I've been saving a Valium for days like this. I wonder what that does to the breast milk?? Anyone have any Ritalin?? Kidding, kidding. Sort of.

And We Have Teeth!

Two of 'em! Finally! Now we can bring out the real food =)

I have been waiting quite awhile for an opening in the milk group just a few minutes from us and last week they split up into two groups so there was room for me! YAY! So instead of driving 45 minutes each way to get milk I now drive 5 minutes for 100% grass-fed organic raw milk that's already bottled and ready to go. And I'm also getting free range omega 3 soy-free organic eggs that are too big for a regular egg carton and most of them are double yolks. I feel so lucky!! I was very happy to see a fridge stuffed with real milk and a nice long list of people in my area that are picking it up.

Went to Como this morning...I think we're closing in on 10 times so far this spring!
